This is a Flushmounted ceiling fan, so it cannot be installed on angled ceilings. Flush mount ceiling fans
are designed specifically for rooms with ceilings lower than 8 feet and do not perform well in rooms with higher ceilings.

Minka Aire Concept II 44 Ceiling Fan Comparison
How does the Minka Aire Concept II 44 Compare to the Average Ceiling Fan?
Wind Speed: 4.95 MPH (directly beneath the 44" blades)
Quality = 4 (average is 3)
A Quality Rating of 4 is above average, so this fan will run smooth and quiet and will give you many years of operation with no worries of the motor burning out.
CFM Airflow = 4600 (average is 5755)
4600 CFM is below average, so don't expect to feel much of a breeze from this fan unless you are
are pretty close to it. Fans with this low of a CFM rating will not provide enough breeze for larger rooms and are not highly recommended for rooms that have
ceilings over 9 feet high.
Efficiency = 115 (average is about 76)
An Efficiency Rating of 115 is
well above average.
Efficiency is defined by the EPA as the amount of airflow a fan produces (CFM) divided by the amount of
electricity (Watts) it uses on high speed without any lights on. Efficiency is less important than Airflow because more
CFMs allow you to raise your thermostat higher...which is where you will save the most energy. Efficiency becomes more important if
you expect to operate several ceiling fans at the same time. (see calculator below)
Watts = 40 (average is about 76)
40 Watts per hour is
well below average, which is excellent because this fan will cost less to operate than the average ceiling fan.
Use the calculator below to estimate just how much it will cost to operate this fan in "Your home".
Minka Aire Concept II 44 Operational Cost Calculator
How to use our Ceiling Fan Cost Calculator
Basic Help: Our cost usage calculator shows you how much it will cost to operate the Minka Aire Concept II 44 ceiling fan. By default, the calculator assumes that you will leave your fan running 24 hours a day for the entire year (which is not very likely to be accurate), so you will want to change the hours and days to be more in line with how often you think you will use the fan. The calculator also defaults to the average cost per kWh of electricity in the USA. You can change this to use the average cost of electricity in your state, although this may vary widely from city to city. For the most accurate calculation, manually enter the actual cost/kWh shown on your utility bill.
The wattage of the fan is already included (if it is known), but you can change it if you wish to see how the wattage affects the cost.
Fans with lights: Calculations are performed without lights by default. If you add a light fixture to the fan, you can add the wattage of the fixture to the wattage of the fan to perform calculations with the lights on. In some cases, when a light fixture of known wattage is included with the fan, the option to calculate with or without lights will show automatically. The light fixture on a ceiling fan almost always uses substantially more electricity than the fan motor, so it is very important to take that into account when comparing the overall operational cost between various ceiling fans
CFM -vs- Efficiency: CFM is KING! It is more important to buy a fan with higher CFMs than it is to buy a fan that uses less electricity. The highest wattage consumed by the most energy guzzling ceiling fan on our website is about 120 watts. So if you input 120 as the fan watts and run our calculator, you will see that it still costs less than 2 cents per hour to operate the most energy guzzling ceiling fan in most states.
You will get more savings with a higher CFM fan than a lower Wattage fan because if your fan moves more air
you will be able to raise your thermostat to a higher degree. Raising your thermostat by 10 degrees can save you up to 40% on your cooling bills. Choosing a less powerful fan because it uses less electricity can be the worst mistake you can make because it will not cool you off enough to allow you to raise your thermostat to a high enough level without becoming uncomfortable. This is why CFM is so much more important to consider than Wattage.
The average kWh by state used by our calculator is derived from information published by the
US Government Department of Energy as of May 2009.
Your actual cost may differ from this. Again, refer to your utility bill for your most recent kWh cost.

We realize that getting the lowest price is not always the only important factor in your buying decision, but it is increasingly more important in today's tough
economic times. So, we do offer to match competitors prices with our Lowest Price Guarantee!
To Match or Beat a Price Call: 1-800-201-1193
Finding a place that provices great service is equally important, but more difficult to accomplish without interacting with someone.
Although the Internet makes it easy to compare prices, it does little to ensure you are going to get good service. Ultimately, our goal is to offer you both the
Best Price and the Best Service, a claim that most companies make but few can live up to.
If you are like me, claims regarding great customer service are empty words until proven otherwise. So, initially, you begin searching for the site with the
lowest price because it is so easy to compare prices online. But prices are fickle. They can change from site to site at any given moment, whereas
customer service typically remains constant. Either a site offers great service or it doesn't.
We are not hiding anything here. We know that the prices we have on our website may or may not be lowest you can find at any given moment. However, by taking all
orders over the phone, we have the distinct advantage of being able to make adjustments when necessary.
The bottom line is, if you have found a better price on this item, please give us a call.
We will appreciate being given the opportunity to beat it, and in the process, give you a chance to experience our excellent customer service!
This Plan gives you the ultimate protection beyond the factory warranty!
This plan covers things that are not normally covered by the manufacturers warranty. These are actually the most common problems that people have with
ceiling fans, which is most likely why the manufacturers don't want to cover them. Here they are:
Broken Glass
Broken Blades
Broken Blade Holders
Remote Controls (this is a big one)
We are proud to say that we will replace any of these at NO COST to you within the first 5 years after your purchase
based on our Replacement Parts Plan!
And YES...we are referring to cases where you are trying to clean the glass and you accidentally drop it, or you are sweeping the floor and you accidentally
hit your fan with a broom handle and break a blade. This is a very lenient policy, but there are some limitations,
so please read the details here!
Don't worry, if you find for less after you make your purchase!
Our Low Price Guarantee not only applies to the time at which you purchase your fan. If you EVER find a better price after you purchase this fan from us,
we will REFUND THE DIFFERENCE based on our Price Guarantee Guidelines!
We have been in the ceiling fan business for over 30 years and have professional installers and technicians on staff who can help you when necessary.
Oh, and yes...it's FREE!
The one thing that we are most proud of and sets us aside from our competition is our professional customer service. After being in the ceiling fan business for
over 30 years, we have learned many valuable lessons and certainly gained a level of expertese not shared by many.
However, knowledge is one thing...customer satisfaction is another.
We know that the main reason we have survived all of these years is because of our dedication to making
sure every one of our customers has a great experience dealing with us. This is not something we had to learn, it is just what we have always done.
Important Note: Due to government legislation regarding the efficiency and wattage ceiling fan light fixtures (EPACT 2005) the fixture you receive may use a different bulb than
what is described. This is because most manufacturers have rolling changes in their inventory in order to bring their fixtures into compliance, so there is no way to know which fixture the manufacturer
will ship until all of their old inventory has been depleted. Most fixtures that used Medium Base Bulbs in the past will be changed to use Candelabra Base Bulbs. Also, since the legislation mandates
that the total wattage of a ceiling fan light cannot exceed 190Watts, the maximium wattage of the bulbs may be lowered to meet this criteria and will most likely have a limiting fuse designed to
trigger if you use bulbs that exceed this wattage.

I am wanting to install a new ceiling fan in a very small room. The light fixture is very close to the ceiling vent. Is there a recommended clearance from a AC vent in the ceiling to the center of a ceiling fan?
Answer: Good question...for which I do not have a definitive answer because none of the major ceiling fan manufacturers have addressed this issue in any publication that I am aware of. So left to my own logic and experience, I will say this: Air blowing down from the AC vent onto the fan blades will cause the fan to wobble, so the fan needs to be far enough away to prevent that from happening (how far being your question). I am going to suggest that an additional clearance of 24" would be adequate. So in order to calculate the distance to the center of the fan from the vent, you need to first know the radius of the blade sweep, which is half of the overall blade span. So, for a 44" fan such as the Minka Aire Concept II that you are considering, the center of the fan should be about 46" from the edge of the vent...that is half the blade span of 44" is 22" plus an extra 24" clearance. Logic would say that if you have vents that angle outward and have a very powerful air conditioning fan, you may want to add even more than 24", whereas if your vents blow directly downward, you can most likely allow less than 24".
I just installed a Concept II Flush 44 Ceiling Fan-I wish I would have found your site 1st, I would have saved $40.00. Anyway, Its not giving out much air, even on high. I double checked blade position and they are correct. On high, you can feel the air if you are directly under it, but if you move 5 or 6 feet away, Nothing. Is this normal? Is the fan defective? Should I put it on a bigger circuit. . . would that make a difference?
Answer: The 44" Minka Aire Concept II ceiling fan produces about 4,600 CFM (cubic feet of airflow per minute), which is above average for a hugger fan. The 52" Version generates a whopping 6,300 CFM, which is about the most you can get from a hugger fan. So for starters, there is a huge difference in performance between the 2 sizes...namely because the larger fan has a larger more powerful motor. But let me explain some things about flushmount ceiling fans that you were likely not made aware wherever it was that you bought your fan. Flush mount fans move less air than fans that hang from a short downrod. This is common knowledge among those in the ceiling fan industry. The blades of a flush mount ceiling fan are usually somewhere from 6" to 10" from the ceiling, which is too close to the ceiling for the air to circulate around them efficiently. The ideal distance from ceiling to blades (for optimal performance) is somewhere between 12" to 18". Because building codes require fan blades to be at least 7 feet from the floor, rooms that have ceilings lower than 8 feet require a fan that has blades that are closer than 12" from the ceiling...hence the need for flushmount ceiling fans. Although this is not the optimal distance for performance, it is a compromise that must be made if you have a low ceiling. For these reasons, we rarely recommend using a hugger fan in any room where the ceiling is 8 feet or higher. If the room in which you installed your Concept II has a ceiling that is 8 feet or higher, it is quite understandable why you are not satisfied with the performance.
Also, because there are 2 sizes with the Concept fans, many people make the mistake of choosing the smaller fan even though the larger model is the best choice. There is such a huge difference in the airflow generated between the 2 models, so from my view, the larger model should be used whenever possible (you can always turn it down if it generates too much air...but you cannot make the smaller model produce more air if it is not enough). Keep in mind that the 3 blade design of the 52" Concept makes it appear smaller than a typical 5 bladed 52" fan, so you can usually get away with using a slightly over-sized 3 bladed fan in a small room without overpowering it visually. Also, if you have a white ceiling, choosing a white fan will make it even less imposing. So a 52" concept II in white can work in a room as small as 10 x 10 (an application I have recommended many times).
I'd be interested in knowing the size of the room and height of the ceiling where your Concept fan is installed. I suspect you might have been better off with the 52" Concept II and would have found the performance to be quite satisfactory. I'd also like to hear your story of how you arrived at the decision to purchase the fan, and where you finally bought it. Although telling me these things will not solve your problem or help improve the performance of your fan, I find the dialog rather interesting and it gives me valuable information that I can share with other visitors who have similar situations or questions.
I want to install a ceiling fan with a good light in my daughter's BR. The room is 10' 8" x 12', with ceiling height of 7' 6". I tried Hunter 44" Stratford from HD (white finish flush-mount w/ 2 14W CFLs), but it hung too low (15.28 inches from ceiling). It's over the foot of the bed, so headroom was not the issue; it just looked too obtrusive. What would you suggest in lowest profile possible, but with good light? Thank you.
Answer: The Minka Aire Concept II ceiling fan that you were looking at when you posted your question is by far the fan that I would most recommend. It moves lots of air, runs very smooth and quiet and only drops 10 1/2" from the ceiling. The only other fan I would suggest is the Emerson Curva Sky 44, which is very similar. Some people prefer one over the other simply because of the slight difference in shape...although the Curva Sky drops down 2 more inches than the Concept, so in your case I would stick with the Concept. Here is a link to the Emerson Curva Sky 44 anyway: Emerson Curva Sky 44 Ceiling Fan
After reading reviews it sounds like the Minka Aire Concept 2 (44) is best for my bedroom, a 10 x 15 with 8 ft ceilings. It would replace our ceiling light. My question is can I use both a wallmounted controller and a remote with the fan?
Answer: Yes, by all means you can use the wall control and remote control together for the Concept II ceiling fans. However, based on your room size, I would suggest that you choose the 52" size over the 44". Please give us a call to discuss this further.
I know this question has been asked before (Ive seen it somewhere just couldn't find it), but I have recently installed 2 minka aire concept 2 fans (in separate rooms)and one wall mount and one remote operates both fans, the other wall mount only turns the entire system on and off and one remote doesnt work at all. Just curious what I need to do to get them operating sparately. Most important are the wall mounts (remotes will be stored, but perhaps imporatant for furture sale of house)
Answer: You need to make sure that the toggle switches for the wall control match the toggle switches in the ceiling fan receiver unit for each fan. Each fan should be set to a different configuration so that they do not conflict with each other. Details for locating the toggle switches and changing them are in your installation manual under step 4 Electrical Connections. If you cannot locate your installation manuals, use this link to download a .pdf copy: Minka Aire Concept II Installation Manual.
I have a Minka F518 Bronze celing fan with the lighting kit. The glass has cracked on the light. What is the part number for this piece so I can replace it? Thank you.
Answer: Although I personally do not have ready access to the part number, we can certainly get a replacement globe for your Concept ceiling fan. Just give us a call and one of our customer service representatives will take care of you.
I am looking for a hugger fan with a light kit, and efficiency is a very important factor. I really like the looks of the Minka Concept II, but I really like the high efficiency of the Emerson Midway Eco. Can the Emerson be mounted flush? Will Minka come out with a DC motor at some point? Any other suggestions for a very efficient hugger fan?
Answer: You can in fact purchase a low ceiling downrod adapter for the super efficient Emerson Midway Eco fan, which will put the very bottom of the fan at a distance of only 11" from the ceiling (the Concept II hangs at 10 1/2"). However, part of the reason the Eco fan moves more air is because of the distance the blades are from the ceiling. As with any flush mounted fan or hugger fan, you sacrifice efficiency when you move the fan closer to the ceiling because the closer the blades get to the ceiling, the more difficult it is for the air to flow smoothly around them.
Unless the ceilings are lower than 8 feet, you should have no reason to use the short downrod on the Eco fan, or a hugger fan for that matter. Hugger fans are designed for rooms with ceilings that are lower than 8 feet (or in cases where humans are taller than 6 feet 4 inches or so). When it comes to hugger fans, the Minka Aire Concept II is among the most efficient, although for an additional $150.00 the Midway Eco with the low ceiling downrod adapter would be the most efficient fan you can buy.
As far as Mink Aire coming out with a DC motor, I would not be surprised to see it due to the impact the Midway Eco has had on the ceiling fan market...but I have not heard of any prototypes at this time.
I have a 12x14 bedroom with 8 ft ceiling,I like the concept 2 because of ceiling height limitation, will the 44" blades move sufficient air at lower speeds ??? thanks Bill
Answer: Bill, I would definately use the 52" fan. It has a larger motor that will give you better airflow for a room your size.
We bought a Minka Aire F518-WH Concept II 44" Fan about three months ago, which we love, but we would like it to provide more air. Is it possible to buy larger (52" white) fan blades for this model? If so, how much do the cost, including shipping?
Answer: Unfortunately, you cannot use the larger blades on the Concept II 44. The motor inside the 44" version is smaller that that of the 52" fan, so it cannot handle the torque required to push the larger blades through the air. The fan would not move more air. Actually, it might move less air and you would run the risk of burning out the motor.
This fan comes with a remote but does it come with a wall switch?
Answer: You can purchase a wall control seperately that will work in conjunction with the remote that comes with the fan...or can be used without the remote. Click on the link for Xtra Controls under Add or Modify Options to see the control...or just give us a call.
Hi. I'm interested in buying 3 of these fans. I have 3 questions: 1)In the description it says that this lighting fixture may come with a medium base bulb socket or it may come with the new standard socket (whatever that is). Since the medium size is being discontinued, will I still be able to buy medium based bulbs if the fan I buy comes with a medium socket? 2)Do you know the reasons for the new legislation? 3)Do you give discounts for buying in bulk?
Answer: Great questions. For starters, as far as quantity discounts, we do offer them to qualifying entities. Otherwise, we still guarantee the lowest delivered price on your purchase. As far as the liht bulb questions, when the transition to meet EPACT2005 legislation is complete, all Minka Aire Concept fans will use a single 100W mini can halogen bulb, not a candelabra base bulb. The legislation is set forth by the Department of Energy with the sole purpose of energy conservation. The legislation does not say that medium base bulbs cannot be sold, nor is there any suggestion that medium base bulbs will be eliminated from the market. There are simply too many existing fixtures installed in homes that use them. If medium base bulbs are phased out, they will be replaced with CFLs (compact fluorescent bulbs), which in fact are currently available…but are far too expensive. What is not normally mentioned is that the legislation does still permit the use of medium base bulb sockets in ceiling fans only if the manufacturer actually supplies the CFL bulbs packaged with the fan. However, very few manufacturers have chosen this method of compliance simply because it adds too much additional cost to their product. Without public awareness of the added value of these included bulbs, fan manufacturers are concerned about remaining competitive in the marketplace, so in almost all cases, they have chosen the route that is least expensive…which is either the use of halogen sockets or candelabra based sockets. There are other limitations which I will not go into in this short answer, but I will mention that why the legislation allows the use of the smaller candelabra base bulbs is a loophole (and in my opinion an oversight and mistake) because the truth is, the smaller candelabra base bulbs are less efficient than a standard household medium base bulb. Go figure. For more information about this legislation, you can read the actual EPACT2005 documentation using this link:
This will be the primary source of light in my son's room - which is 12'x12' with 8' ceiling. How well will the fixture illuminate his room? I also thought 44" would be better size for a small room. Do you agree?
Answer: Well, it uses a single 100 watt bulb, so you will need to compare this with the amount of light you already have and make that judgement. I will say that this is probably our most popular fan ever for bedrooms the size of which you have and I have heard no complaints that it does not put out sufficient light. As for the size, the 44" model should be sufficient.
HI,
I am looking at this product--our ceiling is just 2 inches short of 8'-but the room is a kitchenette size of 8 feet by
18 feet (the regular kitchen makes up the extra 10 feet-and
there is no wall between them), BUT we actually need more
LIGHT than 100W (I think!). Do you have anything like this
but with those 4 60watt bulbs attached?
Thanks.
Answer: The Minka Aire Concept II ceiling fan is a rather unique hugger fan that has a very low profile light fixture built into the bottom of the fan, so you will not find anything quite like it with a four light fixture. For the closest fan in style that fits your needs, try the Montecarlo Designer Hugger ceiling fan.
Hi. Quick question. For a room that is 12 x 15 with an 8 foot ceiling, do you recommend the 44" or 52" version of the Minka Aire Concept II? Thanks! (The room has a small window air conditioner in it, if that's helpful to know.)
Answer: I would use the 52" version...and particularly the Outdoor (Wet) version since it has a more powerful motor and will move more air. Here is a link to the Minka Aire Concept II Wet:
For starters, we have some great policies that you just won't find elsewhere
You can read the details of each of these policies right here!
Hansen Wholesale was the very first company to bring ceiling fans and fireplace decor to the Internet. We've been in business since 1976 supplying these products to retail customers and wholesale buyers all over the country. But In late 1994, we turned left onto the information superhighway by creating a website using America Online. Early on, we predicted great potential on the Internet, so in 1995 we branched away from America Online and launched this website, which has have been here ever since. Our years of experience dealing with online customers from all over the world at both the retail and wholesale level gives us a sharp competitive edge and has helped us grow into one of the single largest suppliers of ceiling fans, lighting, and fireplace decor on the Internet.
We Believe in Human to Human interaction!
From the outset, we decided that Human Interaction was going to be the key to our success, so early on, we invested vast resources to develop and maintain a large staff of ceiling fan, lighting and fireplace decor experts to answer questions, quote prices, and process orders over the phone. So if you are looking for the best price possible and prefer to purchase from a well established company who has experts you can talk to, then you will enjoy the benefits of doing business with Hansen Wholesale.
Our prices are guaranteed to be the lowest you can find. However, because we deal with so many different buying entities (from consumers to developers and exporters), the prices on our site are not necessarily the prices that you will pay if you call to place your order. Further discounts are quoted based on quantities and established relationships with both wholesale buyers and consumers. So we finalize all orders and quotes over the phone where additional discounts are taken. Calling to order allows us to offer you more customized products at better prices.
