Description
Shown in picture: Minka Aire Concept I 52 Wet Ceiling Fan Model F577-ORB in Oil Rubbed Bronze. The light fixture and Taupe Blades are included as shown. The light fixture uses 1-100W Mini-Can Halogen (bulbs included).**. A bottom cap is included so you can install the fan with or without the light. Comes with The WC212 AireControl® Full Function Wall Control featuring 3 speeds in forward and reverse as well as a full range light dimmer. Requires just 2 wires for installation (1 hot wire). A receiver unit also comes with the fan that is compatible with the optional RC212 remote control (sold separately), should you decide to operate the fan from a hand held remote control or use both the included wall control and optional remote control together.

The Concept I Wet ceiling fan from Minka Aire is one of our most popular fans. The sleak body style with integrated blades makes it excellent for areas that experience high winds where fans that have blades that are attached with more traditional blade holders are susceptable to breaking off. This fan is so rugged that you can even hose it off when it gets dirty. The fan features the WC212 full function wall mount control system that can also be operated by a hand held remote control (Model RC212 sold separately). The low profile integrated down-light uses 1-100W Mini-Can Halogen light (bulb included) that illuminates throught the white opal glass in the brushed nickel and white models, or the Pietra glass in the Oil Rubbed Bronze model.

Low, High or Vaulted Ceiling Installation Options
This ceiling fan can be installed on ceilings that are 8 or 9 feet high and can be angled up to 30 degrees without the need for any additional mounting hardware, so what is in the box will be sufficient. If you have a high ceiling or vaulted ceiling that is angled more than 30 degrees (or both), you may need a downrod or angled ceiling adapter in order to install your fan.

Minimum Ceiling Height Requirement: This fan requires a minimum ceiling height of at least 97.25" in order to meet building codes. If your ceiling is lower than 97.25" then you may need to add a flushmount adapter or close to ceiling dowrod if one is available for the fan (see below). If you cannot find what you need to make this fan work in your room, please give us a call so we can check to see if there are any further alternatives.

Minka Aire Concept I 52 Wet Ceiling Fan Comparison Review

How does the Minka Aire Concept I 52 Wet Compare to the Average Ceiling Fan?

Quality Rating = 4 (average is 3)
A Quality Rating of 4 is above average, the Minka Aire Concept I 52 Wet ceiling fan will run smooth and quiet and will give you many years of operation with no worries of the motor burning out.

Airflow = 6300 CFM (average is about 5755)
6300 CFM is a good amount of aiflow and is above average. We highly recommend ceiling fans that move at least this amount of air in order to provide enough wind chill effect to keep you cool. the Minka Aire Concept I 52 Wet will allow you to raise your thermostat by several degrees, which will help you save additional money on your cooling bills.

Efficiency Rating = 107 CFM/Watt (average is about 86)
An Efficiency Rating of 107 is well above average. Efficiency is defined by the EPA as the amount of airflow a fan produces (CFM) divided by the amount of electricity (Watts) it uses on high speed without any lights on. Efficiency is less important than Airflow because more CFMs allow you to raise your thermostat higher...which is where you will save the most energy. Efficiency becomes more important if you expect to operate several ceiling fans at the same time. (see calculator below)

Electrical Usage = 59 Watts (average is about 76)
59 Watts per hour is well below average, which is excellent because the Minka Aire Concept I 52 Wet will cost less to operate than the average ceiling fan. Use the calculator below to estimate just how much it will cost to operate this fan in "Your home".

CFM -vs- Efficiency: CFM is KING! It is more important to buy a fan with higher CFMs than it is to buy a fan that uses less electricity. The highest wattage consumed by the most energy guzzling ceiling fan on our website is about 120 watts. So if you input 120 as the fan watts and run our calculator, you will see that it still costs less than 2 cents per hour to operate the most energy guzzling ceiling fan in most states. You will get more savings with a higher CFM fan than a lower Wattage fan because if your fan moves more air you will be able to raise your thermostat to a higher degree. Raising your thermostat by 10 degrees can save you up to 40% on your cooling bills. Choosing a less powerful fan because it uses less electricity can be the worst mistake you can make because it will not cool you off enough to allow you to raise your thermostat to a high enough level without becoming uncomfortable. This is why CFM is so much more important to consider than Wattage.

**Light Fixture Note
Important Note: Due to government legislation regarding the efficiency and wattage ceiling fan light fixtures (EPACT 2005) the fixture you receive may use a different bulb than what is described. This is because most manufacturers have rolling changes in their inventory in order to bring their fixtures into compliance, so there is no way to know which fixture the manufacturer will ship until all of their old inventory has been depleted. Most fixtures that used Medium Base Bulbs in the past will be changed to use Candelabra Base Bulbs. Also, since the legislation mandates that the total wattage of a ceiling fan light cannot exceed 190Watts, the maximium wattage of the bulbs may be lowered to meet this criteria and will most likely have a limiting fuse designed to trigger if you use bulbs that exceed this wattage.

I purchased this product about a month ago, O love the fan. I had it installed and everything was fine. It seems the switch has gone bad. I looked through the manual to trouble shoot the problem I am having with the light. It turns on and then off right away. It is not the overload feature and it is not the transmitter. I am sur the switch is bad. What do I do about getting a replacement switch. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Answer: If you purchased the fan from us, we will gladly send you a replacement switch at no charge...if in fact it is the switch that is defective. If you purchased the fan elsewhere, we will help you out as well, but we will have to charge you for the replacement. If this is the case, I would suggest contacting the merchant from which you purchased the fan to see what they are willing to do for you.

Would you consider this a good choice for a home gym where we need more air circulation? Any other contemporary fans you would suggest? Others choices are Casablanca S3 or Stealth We have 10 foot ceiling in the room which is 13 by 15.

Answer: Your choices all seem pretty good. Of them, the Stealth is the best by far. I would also suggest the Emerson Midway Eco, which is far more efficient and moves a lot of air.

Hi, What should be the minimum distance between two identical Minka Aire I52 ceiling fans mounted under a pergola (distance between downrods) ? Thank you.

Answer: Without knowing the width and depth of the Pergola, I cannot say. But generally you would position them 1/4 the width of the room in from each side, which would put them equidistant from each other and the sides of the pergola. Please refer to this page for more details about Installing 2 ceiling fans in a room.

My deck cieling is 10.3 feet. What would the best downrod be for the Minka Aire Concept I 52 Wet Model F577-WH. We are thinking an 18 downrod would be best.

Answer: I agree, an 18" downrod would be the best choice for your ceiling height.

Can I install a larger (longer) fan blade on my Concept I

Answer: The blades for the Concept I 52" model are proprietary to the fan. Minka Aire does not make larger blades, so the answer is no, you cannot install larger blades on you Concept I ceiling fan. Also, larger blades require a larger motor because of the additional torque created by the larger surface area and weight. So even if there were a larger blade option, it would most likely require the replacement of the entire fan. For example, if you look at the motor specifications of the 44" Concept fans, you will notice that it has a smaller motor, which means you cannot use the 52" blades on the 44" version.

We have just added a pergola onto our patio and have already wired for 3 ceiling fans. We wire for a standard fan and need to know if additional wiring would be required with these fans.

Answer: The Minka Aire Concept fans come with a wall control that is designed to work from 2 wires, so there will be no need for additional wiring. You can also purchase remote controls to operate the fans if you have not wired them to be operated from a wall control. The Minka Aire Concept Wet ceiling fans are one of our best selling outdoor ceiling fans and they are ultimately an excellent choice for your pergola.

Does the wall mounted control have to be hard wired to the existing fans on/off switch or is this just a remote hung on the wall ?

Answer: No, the wall control must be hard wired for power. They make it that way because the hand held remote controls already come with a wall bracket. Some people prefer the wall hard wired controls because they do not require batteries and are therefore more reliable over time as the power does not diminish.

I have cathedral ceilings in my living and presently have two regular fans which we use a lot given that I live in the heat and humidity of Houston. We want to upgrade the fans and my choice is this 3-bladed Concept fan or the 4-bladed Viper fan. I am as ignorant about fans as I sound so my question is: do 4 blades make it cooler than 3-blades as would appear logical? Thank you.

Answer: The less blades there are on a fan, the more air it will move. Although this does not sound logical, it truly is a case where less is better. Consider airplane props...most of which are 2 or 3 blades. Less blades create less drag on the motor allowing it to reach a higher RPM, which in most cases translates to more air movement. However, do not let this bit of trivia persuade you to a buying decision, because the amount of difference between the two is too small to notice or be of any consequence. What is more important is that you buy fans with the most powerful motor and steepest blade pitch. In comparing the Viper with the Concept, they both have the same motor and blade pitch, so in the overall scheme of things, they will essentially move the same amount of air...only if you compare them on a micro level will you be able to determine that the the concept will move ever so slightly more. Either fan will do a great job in your case, so choose the one that you like the looks of the most and you will be most satisfied. If you would like to consider even more powerful fans than the Viper or Concept, we have those as well and would gladly discuss them with you over the phone.
