About Tropical Style Ceiling Fans
Most tropical ceiling fans have blades made from palm fronds, banana leaves, wicker or carved wood. Others are made of plastic or even pressed wood. Because these blades are much wider and heavier than standard fan blades, tropical style fans require much more powerful motors with a steeper blade pitch in order to move much, if any air at all.
So the most important feature to look for in a tropical fan aside from the natural tropical apperance is the motor that it uses. You need the most powerful motor you can afford if you want to feel any air. However, you must be aware that most of these fans were not designed to move much air at all, so even the most powerful tropical style ceiling fans you see below still will not move much air.
With that said, our ceiling fan experts have come up with the following tropical style ceiling fans that we recommend. Be sure to read the notes, because some of them are more for looks than anything else.
If you need help with your selection, please do not hesitate to call and talk to our ceiling fan experts. They are quite familiar with the various tropical style fans that are available and can tell you what the differences are and help you decide what is best for you.
