Why buy your Gas Logs at Hansen Wholesale?
Hansen Wholesale was the very first company to bring fireplace gas logs to the Internet over 15 years ago. Since then, we have been the definitive source for R. H. Peterson gas logs online. As chief editor at HansenWholesale.com, I bring a unique perspective and validity to the information you will find here. I personally have been in the Gas Log business for over 20 years. I have installed thousands of gas logs, and trained many others to do the same. So, unlike other sites, Hansen Wholesale is completely managed and edited by someone who truly knows about gas logs...not by a web developer who simply copies information from brochures. Our experience fulfilling the needs of people searching online for gas logs is unsurpassed. Our knowledge is vast, and we truly do employ a staff of gas log experts. So no matter how unusual (or usual) your situation might be, we are quite capable of handling your needs.
You need to Talk to a Gas Log Professional before you purchase gas logs from any dealer!
We have over 14,000 gas log and burner combinations to choose from, most of which are on this website. With so many options, we expect that you are going to need help. We have learned over the years that it is nearly impossible for the average consumer to determine the best log and burner combination that is safe and proper for their fireplace...regardless of how much information we publish on this site. Therefore, in order to minimize your risk (and ours), we employ a staff of gas log experts who will answer all of your questions and make sure that the gas logs you purchase will fit your fireplace, look great, and most of all, be safe for your particular application. Calling us to discuss your needs allows us to offer you every option that is available from our vendors. You might find our site overwhelming, but rest assured, our experts know exactly what all of these options are and can help you filter through them in a matter of minutes. And if you are able to stump your expert...they simply walk into my office and ask me for a definitive answer...and if I do not know the answer, I just pick up the phone and talk to one of my contacts in the technical department at the gas log factory!
Don't know a thing about gas logs? Not ready to buy? Just looking?

Regardless of whether you purchase your logs from us, it will be worth your while to educate yourself so that you will know what to look for as you shop around. And don't hesitate to call and pick our brains either...we love talking about gas logs and are always here to answer your questions during business hours.
Ventless Gas Log BTU Calculator!
Ventless gas logs MUST NOT exceed a certain BTU rating based on the size of a room. The formula for calculating the maximum BTU allowed is: Room Width x Room Length x Ceiling Height x 20. You can use this tool below to perform the calculation. Find out why it is important to limit the BTU output of ventless gas logs based on the size of the room!
Enter your ROOM DIMENSIONS:Important Note: Professional Installation is required for all ventless products. Some cities do not allow ventless gas logs to be installed in bedrooms or confined spaces, others do not allow ventless gas logs to be installed at all. Check local building codes for any restrictions or conditions regarding ventless logs before you purchase or install them. Use of a Carbon Monoxide Detector is recommended with ventless products.

I have a Heatolator Gas Fireplace bought in 1992. It has an automatic switch. It lights then immediately turns off. I have been told I need to replace the ignighter switch whick woul run about 300.00. Any suggestions
Answer: Unfortunately we do not deal with trouble-shooting gas fireplaces such as yours. Although it is possible that the person who recommended replacing the ignitor is correct, I may suggest looking for a second opinion from someone who is a member of the National Fireplace Institute. You can find a local qualified technician in your area by searching at this website: National Fireplace Institute. - Posted: 1/14/2010 6:58:07 PM
I'm ready to give up and just live with the soot. Have been trying to find replacement burners-logs for my ventfree unit since DESA went out of business. Everyone says theyll help, then disappears. Logs themselves are 18", firebox is larger, of course. Supposedly this was sold as an entire unit and cannot be repaired or replaced - really? Its about 10 years old and starting to give us some soot. have an installer but cant find anyone to buy from. Can you help? thanks, Norma Everyone sa
Answer: You cannot just live with the soot. If your ventless logs are producing soot, then they are also producing carbon monoxide, which is an odorless lethal gas. Do not burn your logs any more. You are not going to be able to find replacement burners since they are no longer made. You most likely need to replace the entire fireplace. - Posted: 1/9/2010 4:57:38 PM

i have a wood fireplace and want to put in gas logs.mygoal is to heat the main living room if the electricity goes out ,the room is approx 12 x 25.can i use a ventless log to maximise the heat into the room and open the damper a little to remove some of the smell or should i use a vented log ( the smell is a main concern) and get what heat i can out of it. thanks for your help.
Answer: Quite simple. If you do not want smell, then burn vented logs and cuddle up with a blanket when the power is off...or sit in front of the fireplace and enjoy the warmth. Vented logs provide cozy heat in front of the fireplace, but will not heat your room. However, they also do not come with all the other worries and concerns that ventless logs have. Give us a call and we will gladly go over this in more detail and help you choose what is best for you. - Posted: 1/2/2010 11:07:57 PM
We have an unvented fireplace. Non vented logs were too dirty. Can we put in a vent and use vented propane burning logs?
Answer: There is no possible way to add a vent to a non vented fireplace. If you purchased the ventless logs from a home center or department store, then what you experienced is about par for the course and you may wish to consider switching to the Peterson logs you see on our website which are of better quality. Drafts caused from heater vents or ceiling fans, or highly trafficked areas can also cause ventless logs to burn improperly. I can also be that the logs were sized wrong for the fireplace, or simply installed incorrectly. Can you give me more details such as where the logs were purchased, the size of the fireplace, size of the log set and whether or not they were professionally installed?
