Pretty much anything that contains a circuit board that is solid or manufactured in California is either required to have this label or the manufacturer adds the label to avoid frivolous lawsuits. Your cell phone and computer will likely have this same label. Usually it is because lead or some other similar chemical is used in the device or in the process of making the device. If you Google P65 warnings you can read all about it. P65 is short for Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 or California Proposition 65. Since R. H. Peterson is a California based manufacturer, they fall under the jurisdiction of this law and hence, are required to have the label. I recently read that Starbucks may have to include this warning on all of their coffee. So we recommend that you use the remote as directed and abstain from using it for things such as stirring your coffee.
