Fireplaces that are over 48" wide or 34" tall almost always require custom fireplace doors. In most cases, the doors will require what are called "Fixed End Panels" (see examples below). Fixed end panels are panes of glass that do not open. Fixed end panels are needed in order to cut down the size of the functional doors so that they can open and close properly and to reduce the size of each glass pane to less than 3 square feet. For safety reasons and structural integrity, we will not make any fireplace door where any single pane of glass is larger than 3 square feet. It is possible to have the fixed end panels operate as doors themselves separate from the main doors, but it is usually not necessary, so we make them fixed.
Most of our fireplace doors can be made with fixed end panels and you can See Our Fireplace Doors Here!
