This brick fireplace has a lip of brick around the opening. In cases like this, the door can either be mounted overlapping the lip or as an inside fit. The inside fit usually requires a little additional work mortaring around the sides of the door and also requires much more precise measurements. For the inside fit, we recommend the Stiletto door because it has a very narrow frame that will minimize shrinking the opening. For an overlap fit, a frame that is a little wider is more appropriate, so there are lot more options. We chose to use a mesh curtain in each of these examples just because the original photo had a mesh curtain and it was a little difficult to mask that without adding a mesh curtain to the mock ups. Mesh panel doors may be used instead, or no mesh at all if you prefer.
These options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in.
