Project 10015 - Fireplace Door Mock-Ups

Customer Notes: We need glass doors for our gas keep our toddler from sticking his hands in there. Our house was built in 1968. The previous owners changed the fireplace to gas but did not place any doors on it. It seems they removed whatever doors there were and patched the opening. We think it might be a ZC fireplace because We think we can see metal inside. But we did not find any label. Perhaps you can tell? We measured inside where the old doors seemed to be. It was 48.5” across and 28” high. We are looking for simple, modern doors.

Our Comments: This is certainly not a ZC fireplace, it is a masonry fireplace, which is great because it gives you a lot more options for fireplace doors. We have shown all of the door options below with mesh panel doors behind the glass. This way you can burn your gas logs with the glass doors open and still provide protection for your toddler. Since you must burn gas logs with the doors open, you do not need the draft slot at the bottom, so we recommend 4 sided frame, it will look cleaner as shown in the examples

Fireplace opening size: 45 1/2" W x 28" H

Recommended frame size: Cutback frames overlap 1/4" on all 4 sides. Other doors will overlap about 1" on each side.

Note: These mock-ups are digitally created and meant to be used as a visualization tool only. The door frames are not exactly to scale and the finishes we attempt to replicate may not be accurate and will look different on every device. Mesh Options

These options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
