Project 10028 - Fireplace Door Mock-Ups

Masonry Corner Fireplace

Customer Note: I am looking for custom doors for my fireplace. the opening is 4 feet wide by 30 inches tall and the style is mid century modern with clean lines.

Supplied measurements:

48" W x 28"H

Our Comments: With a stone fireplace like this you can do an inside fit with mortar or an outside fit without mortar. If you do an outside fit, you are going to want a frame that overlaps the opening about 1 1/2" in order to help hide the irregularities in the stone so that you do not see holes between the back of the frame and the stone when you stand off to the side. You can fill those holes with mortar, but if that is the case, you might as well do an inside fit because it will give you a more finished look.

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Note: Finishes appear different on every computer screen. They also can look quite different depending on the lighting. We took these pictures in natural sunlight. The first picture is from directly over the sample, the second picture at a slight angle to close exposure to direct sunlight and the third picture with some exposure to direct sunlight. Please ignore the imperfections, they do not represent the quality of the product. The samples we photographed have been used a lot and are a bit scratched up. Hopefully we can get some new samples soon and take some better pictures.

Finish #2: Silver (powder coat)

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
