Here is a fireplace that is currently being remodeled with a new marble slab facing where the opening is slightly raised in the wall. Doors for fireplaces like this should have a somewhat narrow frame and fit flat against the marble and overlap on all 4 sides. The marble has a gray vein to it, so we have chosen finishes that work well with this. We can make these doors with or without the bottom air vent, but all examples are shown with a vent as well as an overlapping bottom frame.
Opening Size: 36" W x 23 5/8" H
Recommended Finished Size - Silhouette Cutback: 37" W x 24 5/8" H (1/2" overlap on 4 sides - 62 United Inches)
Recommended Finished Size - Legend: 38" W x 25 5/8" H (1" overlap on 4 sides - 64 United Inches)
These options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in.
