Customer Comments: I'm looking for ideas for fireplace doors for a Maine house. Although, I'm mostly interested in reducing energy losses, particularly when leaving the flue open when going to bed. But, I'd also like to have doors that add something to the room. The house is on the Maine coast, so something that goes along with a rustic location. Unfortunately, the picture I took was at an angle, and we won't be back until January. The dimensions are 35 1/2" wide x 31" high, and the hearth is level with the firebox.
Our Comments: Pictures taken directly in front of the fireplace are best, but we can work with this. Here are some examples of doors we think would look great in your home.
These options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in.
