Project 10060 - Fireplace Door Mock-Ups
Fireplace Doors for Rock Fireplace
Customer Request: We have a wood burning fireplace that we had a stone facing added to several years back. At the time we looked for new fireplace doors and could not find a standard door that would work for us. We put a screen in front of the fireplace instead. This had led to several issues the most important of which are:
- We are losing heat even with the damper closed
- There is an odor that comes from the fireplace even though we keep it clean and have had the chimney inspected and sealed and have a high quality cap in place
So, I am now researching the possibility of having custom doors put in place.
I have attached several photos of the fireplace. The measurements to the closest ¼ inch are:
- Height- 27 inches (both sides)
- Width- at the bottom 41 ½ inches, at the top 41 5/8 inches
- Depth of the top “lentil” 3 12 inches plus the stone facing which varies from 1 inch to 2.5 inches
We would like to find a solution preferably in an oil rubbed bronze finish. Please let me know if you have a product that can help us.
PS: we live in Charlotte North Carolina.
Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
