Project 10069 - Fireplace Door Mock-Ups
River Rock Fireplace
Opening Size: 37.5" W x 27" H
Customer is requesting a fireplace door with a narrow black frame and no mesh. When doing an inside fit on this river rock, the door will need to be mortared in, so a frame that has sufficient depth to apply mortar is necessary. We suggest using the Stiletto glass door for this application, which is the narrowest frame and also one of the easiest doors to mortar in because the door frame is flat and has a 1 5/8" depth. We have also included the Craftsman door because we like the way it looks on this fireplace. The Craftsman is a custom steel framed door, so we can make the frame width as narrow as we want within certain limitations. The steel doors can also be made with a mortar flange, making them just as easy to mortar in as the Stiletto.
Important Note: Although these pictures show the fireplace doors closed with a gas log, that would not be normal. With gas logs, you must burn the fire with the doors open. This is a safety regulation that is required for all gas logs. If you burn a gas log with the doors closed it can cause it to burn improperly and produce excess soot as well as carbon monoxide. A wood burning fire can in fact be burned with the doors open or closed.
Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
