Project 10104 - Outdoor Fireplace Glass Door on Granite

Customer Comments: Hi there, I have an outdoor wood-burning fireplace on my porch in South Carolina that needs doors. I’m attaching a picture below. The fireplace surround is black granite. The opening is 33 3/8" wide and 29 3/4" high. The thickness of the granite surround is 1 1/8". I was thinking of something very simple, like the Stilleto. Shiny black finish and smoked or grey doors so that you can’t see through so clearly in the daylight. Looking forward to your help.

Opening Size: 33 3/8” W x 29 3/4" H

The Stiletto is an excellent choice providing you use the Cutback option which recesses the majority of the door frame inside the fireplace and leaves only the outer frame projecting 5/16". The normal Stiletto frame projects 1 5/8", so the Cutback frame is a much flatter and sleeker look. We also recommend considering the Silhouette Cutback, which also has a very narrow frame that is rounded rather than square and appears even more flush to the opening. If you wish to hide the interior of the fireplace during the day, black glass is an excellent choice rather than gray glass. The black glass is not at all transparent so it will completely hide the inside of the fireplace when the doors are closed and provide a very clean contemporary look. The gray glass is tinted but still transparent, so certain times during the day, depending on the sunlight, it will appear much more transparent.

We have supplied links to each door below their corresponding picture so you can get an idea of the prices and options.

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
