Project 10126 - Glass Doors for Modern Fireplace with TV

Customer Comments: Thinking about the Stiletto Fireplace Door in a metal to match the current finish (likely textured black). I do want mesh screen as well. Opening size is 27.5”w x 21.5”h (inside to the frame just inside the opening is 28”w x 22”h)

Fireplace Opening: 27 1/2" W x 21 1/2" H

Our Comments: We have created examples of the Stiletto with both sliding mesh curtains and gate mesh backup doors since we were not sure which type of mesh screen you were referring to. We also included black glass as an option, which is a more unusual contemporary look that many are not aware of as an option. We then added the Odyssey door, which was specifically designed with this type of application in mind.

We have supplied links to each door below their corresponding picture so you can get an idea of the prices and options.

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Option #2: Stiletto in Rustic Black with Clear Glass and Gate Mesh Backup Doors. Notice when there are gate mesh doors, there is a 4-sided inner frame that supports the mesh doors, so is visible in the center behind the glass.

Option #3: Stiletto in Rustic Black with Black Glass. Black glass is non-transparent, so it will hide whatever is inside the fireplace when the doors are closed. So whether there is a mesh curtain or gate mesh cannot be seen with the doors shut. This is a very modern look and is often used when there is a big screen TV over the fireplace.

Option #3: Odyssey Rustic Black with Black Glass. Although not requested, we included the Odyssey in this project because it was designed specifically with this application in mind where there is a big screen TV over the fireplace. The Odyssey has two doors with hidden hinges and opens much like a kitchen cabinet without knobs, you just grab the edge of the door because it has a slight projection to it from the outer frame. It also has black glass as described in the above door. This is the ultimate sleek contemporary looking door for this application.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
