Project 10127 - Glass Doors for Gas Fireplace
Customer Comments: Looking for help with our gas fireplace opening. We removed the original brass trim and double glass doors intending to just update the shiny brass finish to an oil-rubbed bronze and put the trim / original glass back on. Fast-forward 1 year and we still have the opening bare without glass and trim. I am interested to see what you can suggest. Prefer a minimal and smooth look without ornate features and black (rustic black) or an espresso finish. The opening measures 36 wide x 34.5 tall.
Fireplace Opening: 26" W x 34 1/2" H
Our Comments: We recommend the Brookfield ZC Deluxe fireplace doors for this application because it is made with upper and lower louvers, which is what you are going to need if you wish to cover everything. This door is magnetically attached to the fireplace, so it will be easy to remove should you need to access the burner system for maintenance or repair. There is a concern about what the very top of the fireplace front. We cannot tell from the picture if there is a hood at the top or if all of the fireplace front is flat and at the same level, so some additional photos may be necessary to see exactly how the door will need to be made.
We have supplied links to each door below their corresponding picture so you can get an idea of the prices and options.
Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.
Finish Samples: Design Specialties Finishes | Stone Manufacturing Finishes | Hearth Creations Finishes
A = Overall Height
B = Overall Width
C = Top Vent Height
D = Opening Height
E = Bottom Vent Height
C, D & E should add up to A. When we order the door we will make C and E 1/8” less than they actually measure in order to allow 1/8” play at top and bottom. We will deduct 1/4" from B to leave the 1/8” play in width on each side.
Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
