Project 10130 - Glass Doors for ZC Fireplace with Vents

Customer Comments: I’d like to get some help in selecting and mocking up a few fireplace doors. Couple of questions first…we are contemporary / transitional in our design and want to stay with clean simple lines. I’m thinking satin nickel as a finish and given that the fireplace is black and has some vents on top and bottom I was thinking of something like a gray glass that would obscure that. Can you hide the vents behind the glass? We intend to put glass beads in there (not logs) and rarely burn it. Measurements width. 43 3/4. Height 31 1/4. Sunlyte, Phoenix, and Zion look interesting but I need technical guidance on whether vents would need to be added to the frames to accommodate the design of the firebox shown. Also could use technical guidance on whether to go with a grill that is inside of the stone or overlaying the stone. Finally how to attach it.

Fireplace Opening: Not Specified

Our Comments: Thanks for the great detailed request. There are no fireplace doors designed to cover the vents with the glass panels. You would either leave the vents exposed and install the door inside the actual fireplace opening or just barely overlapping the opening, or you have special doors made that can have louvers in the frame. We have 2 different doors that can be made that way, each having various options for the louver patterns and finish choices. We have provided examples of both types of doors. The Brookfield ZC Deluxe pieced together with aluminum extrusions and is very easy to install because it has magnets on the back side of the frame, so you just set it against the black metal and it's a done deal. The aluminum frame is not available in a satin nickel finish, but is available in a muted silver powder coat finish as we have attempted to replicate below. The Legend ZC Deluxe is laser cut from a single sheet of 3/16" solid steel, so it is heavier duty and takes on a cleaner look. Because the steel is heavier, it cannot use the magnetic attachment, so there 4 brackets with screws that project inside the opening and you simply tighten the screws for a pressure fit, which is also a very easy installation. The outer frame of the Legend ZC Deluxe cannot be in a satin nickel finish, but the door frames can. So we have created an example replicating a combination of silver on the outer frame with satin nickel doors. This is a very handsome look.

As far as the glass is concerned, we recommend black glass to hide the inside of the fireplace. The black glass is none transparent and not very reflective. Gray glass will darken the interior a bit, but you can still see through it depending on the lighting in the room and the angle that you view the fireplace. I indicated Clear/Gray glass on a couple of the doors because it is difficult to illustrate the difference between them because the original photo was taken with very little light inside the fireplace, so it is already very dark. I actually lightened the inside of your fireplace just a touch so you can see it better in the mockups.

We have supplied links to each door below their corresponding picture so you can get an idea of the prices and options.

Note: These mock-ups are digitally created and meant to be used as a visualization tool only. The door frames are not exactly to scale and the finishes we attempt to replicate may not be accurate and will look different on every device. Mesh Options

These options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
