Project 10135 - Glass Doors for Masonry Brick Fireplace

Customer Comments: I have several questions about how to measure the fireplace opening and final dimensions of the fireplace door due to design of a brick “frame” around the opening as can be seen in the photos. The brick frame is 4 inches wide, four inches from the edge of opening. Will an overlap door work? Also, I think the lintel is not a standard type. The opening is 24” tall by 36” wide. It is a gas fireplace. Do you have samples of finish that can be mailed out? Thank you. I set up a an account with wish list, which is at my budget.

Fireplace Opening: 36" W x 24" H

Our Comments: The Brookfield door you have in your wishlist will work just fine in this application. It is very straightforward. The lintel is not unusual and will pose no problems. If the Brookfield is the door of your choice, we would recommend making it overlap the opening 1" on the top and on each side. To measure correctly for the brookfield we just need the opening width from brick to brick and the height from the hearth to the bottom of the bricks. Again, the lintel is no concern here.

Regarding finish samples, we do not have samples that we can mail out, but we are the only place online with actual photographs of the various finishes taken in natural sunlight from different angles so that you can see the characteristics of the finishes in different levels of light. Please refer to our Finish Samples Here.. We have provided several representations of the Brookfield door in some finishes we think will look good on your fireplace. These are photoshop representations of the finish that will give you a general idea how they might look.

We have supplied links to each door below their corresponding picture so you can get an idea of the prices and options.

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
