Project 10146 - Fireplace Doors for Brick Fireplace

Customer Comments: Hello, I am looking at purchasing new fireplace doors for my masonry fireplace with gas logs. I am replacing a sheet-metal-style door which is not shown in the photos. The firebox opening measures 40.25" x 29".

I've mostly settled on Design Specialties Carolina with tracked bi-fold doors, sunrise window feature, and clear glass. It would be the same uniform finish for the frame and the sunrise detail. I am considering several finishes and would appreciate your help creating visualizations for these: Classic Bronze, Solar Bronze, Autumn Glow. I have small kids and am also considering adding the child lock add-on. Can you comment on whether you receive positive feedback about that?

I'd also appreciate any other input or feedback you may have.

Our Comments: A couple things: The child safety clips are not available on the steel doors. This was a mistake on our website and I have corrected that. The Legend doors are available with actual keyed door locks, but that option is not available on the Carolina since it is an entry level steel door. The Legend can be made to look just like the Carolina, but has more options. The main difference between the Carolina and the Legend is that the Carolina is made from barstock pieces that are welded together and the Legend is laser cut from a single sheet of 3/16" thick solid steel, so there are no seems. The seems are hidden in the Carolina when a powder coat finish is applied and all of the finishes you are powder coat, so that is not an issue. Also, tracked doors are only available on aluminum doors, all of the steel doors including the Carolina and Legend do not have tracks and are available as cabinet (2 door) or bifold (4 door panels) that swing out to 180 degrees.

I have gone ahead and created the examples you requested, but if you want to consider the keyed locks, the prices will be based on the Legend Door which you can view using this link: Design Specialties Legend Glass Door

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
