Project 10170 - Glass Doors Ledger Stone Fireplace

Customer Comments: Good afternoon, we are interested in the Savannah and Bedford door (#2 DS-Stock savannah or #3 DS Stock Bedford). Ancient age, cast bronze or textured black finish. Our budget is around $500. Masonry fireplace, stone veneer plaques as aesthetic upgrade. The fireplace already has mesh.

Our Comments: We do not have any stock doors in a size that will fit your fireplace. Even more, because stock doors are made to overlap the opening, the uneven surface would create unsightly gaps between the stones and the frame. Plus, almost all stock size doors are made for typical fireplaces where the opening is at the floor, so they are not made to overlap on the bottom. So even if you can find a brand of stock doors made to fit your opening size, we do not believe they would look good. With fireplaces like yours, a custom made inside fit looks best and the gaps can be filled with mortar as you see in the examples below. Most of the doors you see on our website can be custom made to fit inside your fireplace, but not in the $500 price range. In your case, the starting price would be about double that for the least expensive custom made doors. We recommend considering the two doors below.

Fireplace Opening: 44" W x 23 3/4" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
