Project 10192 - Glass Doors for Marble Fireplace with Arched Corners

Customer Comments: Thanks for showing me what it might look like with the Craftsman in hand forged iron. The only problem I can see is that the surround will have to be big enough to cover the rounded arch in the tile which is a 3 1/2 inch radius

Our Comments: We have no problem making the Craftsman door fit your fireplace. We will simply make the frame a bit wider than normal in order to overlap the arches. I am suggesting we make the frame 2 1/2" wide, but you will need to follow the instructions in Figure #1 below to confirm this.

Fireplace Opening: Not Yet Specified

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Measuring Diagram

Figure #1: Instructions for measuring the corner: The red lines represent the actual opening of the fireplace. The black lines intersect at the center of the curve perpendicular to the red lines. You can apply some tape to the marble in the positions of the lines in order to get the measurements we need. What we need to know is the distance between the black lines and the red lines or the width and height of the white box. We will add 1” to this measurement to determine how wide the frame needs to be. This will allow the frame to overlap the opening 1/2" on the top and each side and provide a 1/2" clearance from the inner frame of the door that recesses into the fireplace. We will also need the overall width and height of the opening.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
