Project 10221 - Glass Door for Louvered Fireplace
Customer Comments: Hello, I would like to replace my fireplace doors. The desired product would be in brushed satin nickle finish, preferably steel frame and clear glass. I would like to frame the fireplace opening with the satin nickle finish and if required (by the door design) use the same for the window frame elements. Current fireplace doors: Mid 1980's zero clearance insert produced by Temco. Model GD 36-1, bronze finish. Fireplace opening is 36" wide, 19 3/4" high, depth of the rail for the current glass doors 7/8". (Please note this is not the door height and width but the actual opening height and width.) Behind the door is a hanging wire mesh fire curtain (I would like to replace this as well). Above the door opening is a mechanism for opening the flu. It limits the amount for frame that can be placed around the existing opening. Distance from the edge of the opening to the flu mechanism is 1/2". From the vertical side of the opening to the brick facade is 1 1/2". I have attached photos. Can you please recommend models. I would like something modern and simple in design.
Our Comments: There are 3 ways you can add doors to this type of fireplace. 1) A frame that fits inside the opening. 2) A frame that barely overlaps the opening. 3) A frame that covers the entire fireplace with a cutout for the damper handle. We have created examples of all 3 types. We used black glass simply because the picture you supplied was taken with the old doors in place and we cannot remove them from the photo, so we had to cover them up.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
