Project 10258 - Glass Doors for Hole In Wall Fireplace

Customer Comments: Dear folks at Hansen Wholesale, As you can see from the attached pictures, we are in the middle of a major remodel of our dining room and kitchen. Our dining room has a somewhat odd fireplace a few feet up from the ground set into a brick wall (there is another fireplace that shares the same chimney in the living room behind it). The wall is angled from the entrance to the kitchen. The wall has been white bricks all this time, but we will have it plastered over with a smooth finish in about a week. We've installed gas (previously wood only) and were planning on putting in a pan with colored gas. With regards to the door, we are attracted to the Slim Moderne, in Old World Bronze or other red/brown colors (Autumn Glow? Mahogany?) We saw that you would work with photos to show what it would look like. Wee attached. Will these work or would you prefer to wait until the wall is smoothed over? Thank you!

Our Comments: We have taken the liberty of smoothing out your wall so you can see how the doors you requested might look. The Slim Moderne door is an excellent choice and it comes in 3 different door types: single door, twin doors and bifold doors. You will need to consider the practicality of the door type based on the layout of the room. All 3 door types will fold back against the wall but the single door takes up more space and may look odd when it is opened, but it does provide a sleek contemporary look. Bifolding doors are the most practical, but are less modern.

Update - 12/31/2018: The Slim Moderne door is no longer available with any outer frame finish except for textured black or rustic black. So we updated the doors on this page to reflect that change

Fireplace Opening: Unknown

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
