Customer Comments: Hi there. We currently have a floor to ceiling brick fireplace with an opening 27" h and 35" wide and are looking to update the screen door the previous owners had with a glass door. One of my main concerns is the holes that were drilled into the brick by the previous owner so I will need those holes to be covered in addition to purchasing the glass door. The holes are 3 inches from the opening. We like the craftsman, carolina sunrise (maybe tight fit), oak tree, and madrid and were thinking rustic black. I am attaching photos. I would be so grateful if you would be able to show us what our fireplace might look like with some of those styles and if you have any input into how to best work with what was left by the previous owner (holes). Thank you very much.
Our Comments: We can make the door frames wider to cover the holes or you can patch the holes. A good way to patch the holes is to scrape one or several of your bricks in a non-conspicuous place to gather some red brick dust. Then fill a hole with mortar and before the mortar dries, pat some of the brick dust on the surface of the mortar with your finger or a brush. We added the Milwaukee Forge Armada, which is perfectly designed to cover the holes. We have also shown some of the doors with customized 3 1/2" wide frames and some standard frames so you can see the difference and decide whether or not you wish to try and fill the holes or let the door frame cover them. We also suggest that you consider the Forged Iron finish, which is a blackened look that has more character and looks great on the forged style doors.
Fireplace Opening: 35" W x 27" H
These options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in.
