Project #10304 - Glass Doors for Modern Fireplace

Customer Comments: I need your assistance for an existing ZC Fireplace. I removed the old rusted metal screen and have attached a new surround but need to install glass doors - preferably 2 doors in black - no detail.

Our Comments: We have created examples of 3 fireplace doors we believe would look great on your fireplace. Each example uses cabinet doors (2 doors) with a black frame as you requested. Keep in mind that these doors must fit inside the stone facing flush with the front of the fireplace, so if you choose cabinet doors they will not be able to fold back all of the way when they are opened. Bifolding doors will be less obtrusive when opened but do not look as sleek when they are closed.

Fireplace Opening: 36" W x 22" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Alternative Product Images

The images below show how the Slim Modern and Odyssey doors operate. Although the picture is showing a single door unit, they depict how the doors are offset from the face of the frame. The difference between the Odyssey and the Slim Moderne is that the Odyssey has black glass attached outside of the door frame, so there is no visible frame over the glass. The black glass hides the glue that holds the glass in place, so this door must either have black glass or reflective glass (which is optional). The Slim Moderne has a typical frame around the glass, so you can have black glass or any other available color. Both of these doors do not have any handles, so they are quite sleek.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
