Project - Glass Doors for Hole In Wall Marble Fireplace
Customer Comments:
Hi- We have a has fireplace that we just re-tiled that needs a screen.
We are hoping to find something that effectively disappears - modern in feel. Presumably, glass with some kind of metal frame would be best? I'm a little concerned that the glass would become hot to the touch since we have pets. I suspect you will know what options might be best. We're open to suggestions, obviously.
The opening is 54 inches wide and 32 inches high from the top of the finished tile floor. There's about another half inch from the interior fireplace floor to the top of the tile floor (due to the depth of the tile flooring).
Thanks
Our Comments: We suggest using a fireplace glass door with either a mesh curtain or gate mesh backup doors behind the glass. The glass doors must be open when you burn the fire, so there is no issue about the glass getting hot to touch. The mesh is there for when you are burning the fire and the glass will keep cold air from coming into your home during the winter since your gas logs require the damper to be open at all times. (see pictures of mesh options at bottom of page)

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
