Project 10342 - Glass Doors for Large Brick Fireplace

Customer Comments: The fireplace opening is 58”w x 43.5 h x 35” deep. We have a large screen on it now but my husband has developed a sensitivity to the smoke, though we have an extremely high chimney. Not sure what’s going on with him, but I’d like to be able to close off the opening to some degree but also see the fire. There is no external air source so it draws on the room. It’s never been a cold fireplace though even leaving the damper open at night to let it burn down. We live in Boston so it does get cold in the winter. The room has a nautical theme because we used to sail a lot. I would like to hear your ideas. Thank you.

Our Comments: We have created 3 examples in 3 completely different price ranges from hand forged steel, laser cut steel and extruded aluminum. Each example has gate mesh doors behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open or closed.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
