Project #10379 - Glass Door for Fireplace Remodel
Customer Comments: Hi, I'd like to convert my wood-burning into a gas burning fireplace. My priority is aesthetics not heat. I like a very clean, sleek, contemporary look. Here are pictures and both interior and exterior measurements that would help you.
Our Comments: We have attempted to create the fireplace as you have described with several door options that we think might suit your taste.

Before:
Option #1: Hidden Hinge Bifold Fireplace Door with Waterfall Handles in Satin Nickel. Hand Crafted from 3/16" Thick Solid Virgin Brass Barstock by Stone Manufacturing. This ties in well with the glass table.
Option #1: Hidden Hinge Bifold Fireplace Door with Waterfall Handles in Black. Hand Crafted from 3/16" Thick Solid Steel by Stone Manufacturing.
Option #3: Slim Moderne Bifold Fireplace Door with Black Outer Frame and Satin Nickel Doors. There are no handles on this door. Made by Design Specialties. This door ties in with the table and other decor.
Option #4: Stiletto Cutback Bifold Fireplace Door in Rustic Black. This frame is as narrow and flat against the fireplace as you can get, but it has handles. Made by Design Specialties.
Option #5: Sliding Door in Black. The glass panels on the left and right side are fixed and do not move. The two inner glass panels actually slide to the left and right ending in front of the fixed outer panes of glass. So the doors do not fold out at all, they remain within the frame. Hand Crafted from 3/16" Thick Solid Steel by Stone Manufacturing.

Examples
These were examples supplied by the customer
Example #1: Above is what I like, except I'll need a handle-less bi-folding, clear glass, thin black framed doors with black glass and grey rocks, and a black painted interior fireplace when I'm done.
Example #2: The white Carrera marble fireplace belongs to my girlfriend.
Example #3: Side viewof my girlfriend's fireplace.
Example #4: This is a picture out of a website, but the idea is the same. It's marble and it has a self-serving mantel. That's the kind of slick look I'd like.
Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
