Project 10382 - Screen for Fireplace With Ledge
Customer Comments: I believe I need a custom screen made for my fireplace. Attached is a picture of my fireplace. The main opening is 46 inches. The bench is 14 inches making the entire opening 60. There are protruding bricks on each side so the width cannot go over 50 inches unless it doesn’t touch sides (sits back). The height of the opening is 34 inches. I prefer a clean modern look. A silver or black finish is my preference. I will be burning wood so I need sparks to be controlled.
Our Comments: We can make a fireplace door or bar and mesh for your fireplace. If we do a door, you can overlap the bricks, but you would need to chisel the protruding bricks and then repaint them. We can make the door fit inside, but measuring will be critical and we will leave a 1/4" to 1/2" gap around the frame that will need to be filled with mortar. We have created examples of each case. The fireplace door on the right can be a fixed piece of glass or an operable door.
Fireplace Opening: 60" W x 34" H
Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
