Project #10394 - Glass Doors for Brick Fireplace
Customer Comments: I have been browsing a lot online, and I like simpler looks. the Brookfield and Stilletto door look pretty good, especially because the opening is small, so a low profile frame would be nice I think. all things equal, I think I like a 'inside fit' better, but im not sure that it will fit that well due to the nature of the tile hearth. Im also nervous that my measurements are not exact... Features I know I want: a damper, a mesh screen (prefered screen door on hinges, but a curtain is not a deal breaker.) I think bifold Trackless are ideal, but I'm open to cabinet doors as well. A model that allows for burning with door closed would be great as well, but that is not a deal breaker.
Our Comments: The Brookfield is a decent choice, but we do not believe the Stiletto is the best. The frame is too narrow on the Stiletto to do an overlap fit, so it would be made to fit inside. This will shrink the opening and make it look even smaller. It is also more difficult to install because you will need to fill the gap around the frame with mortar. With that said, it is the most minimal look. We have created several examples of doors including one that is designed to make the opening look larger. Your measurements are fine for any of these doors. We will make them with plenty of room for play.

Option #4: Legend Fireplace Door in Rustic Black. This door is made of laser cut steel and is designed to make the fireplace opening look larger than it actually is by using a 3" wide frame on the sides and a 1 1/2" wide frame at the top.
Option #5: Stone Manufacturing Hidden Hinge in Satin Nickel (hand crafted by artisans from solid brass). We like to include the solid brass doors as an option for those who want to see what the highest quality doors look like. This one is quite pricey compared to the other options above.

The width of the opening is as follows:
Top: 28 1/2 inch
Middle 28 7/16 inch
Bottom 28 1/2 inch
The height of the opening is as follows: NOTE: measurements are from the underside of upper brick, to the TOP of the tile Hearth.
Left: 24 3/8 inch
Right 24 5/16 inch
The face of the brick to the Lintel bar is: 1 3/8 inch.
The lintel bar width is 7/16 inch (this was hard to measure though, so may be a bit off.
One note, the floor of the room is flush with the bottom of the firebox. However, the tile hearth is laid directly on the floor of the room, so it is raised somewhere between a half, and 3/4 inch based on how flat each tile is.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
