Project #10462 - Glass Doors for Prefabricated Fireplace
Customer Comments: Hello! We need fireplace doors for our fireplace but I am not sure what kind would work. We have a prefab box with an opening that is 41.75 inches wide and 21 inches tall. I want the largest viewing area possible as the opening is already too small in my opinion compared to the mantle and stone facade. I like very minimal designs (mostly I just want a plain sheet of glass!) My husband and I can't agree on whether 2 large hinged doors or 4 panel accordion doors would be best. We have taken out the logs that came with the firebox and will eventually replace it with an H burner and fire glass for a cleaner, more contemporary look. We have a toddler and a newborn so we need doors to keep them out of the fireplace. I’ve attached pictures of the fireplace. Please let me know if you need any additional info. Thanks.
Our Comments: We have 2 manufacturers that will make doors for your prefabricated fireplace. The less expensive one only makes doors that fit inside the opening. So even though they have a very narrow frame, anything inside shrinks the opening. The other manufacturer well make doors to overlap the stone facia of your fireplace. To do this, you need a wider frame. But, the doors will not encroach any more on the opening. The outside fit will give you the illusion that the opening is larger. I realize you asked for black, but I have thrown in some brushed nickel as well which will compliment your beautiful mirror.
Fireplace Opening: 41 3/4" W x 21" H
Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Glass Doors by Stone Manufacturing
These doors will have a 2 1/2" wide frame to overlap the stone

Glass Doors by Design Specialties
These doors will fit inside the black metal opening. You may have to chisel some of the stone on the upper left corner to install these doors
Measuring Diagrams
These diagrams are for measuring for the inside fit Stiletto doors. There is an area in the top left corner where the stone comes over the black metal. This is going to need to be chipped away before the doors can be installed. Inspect the opening on all 4 sides as there may be other areas that require a little chipping. This can be done easily with a hammer and chisel or flat head screwdriver.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
