Project #10479 - Glass Doors for Fireplace

Need a door to prevent wasps from getting into the home through the fireplace

Customer Comments: I reviewed some projects on line, got some ideas to compare. Design of project #10279, 10201, 10157, 10140 looks nice for me. I like the idea that Fireplace door covers whole areas including fireplace (42x22.5) and tiles around, then I don’t need to think about to put new tiles around. The current fireplace only has a open curtain, I think the new one with the glass and metal mesh door is good, but the new door must be able to isolate wasp totally. Considering the cost, I don’t need fancy decor, simple is good. And material is not necessary fancy, as far as the quality is stable and reliable with time being. Metal color is black. I’m not sure about glass color, maybe clear is good. I measured again the whole section, the size is 53 1/8” x 38 1/4” ( I measured from edge of the white wood trim as attached picture).

Our Comments: Here are some options for keeping the wasps out of your fireplace.

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Legend Fireplace Screen DOor Option #4: Legend Masonry Fireplace Screen Door in Rustic Black. This door is designed for masonry fireplaces, but will work on a zero clearance fireplace when designed with mesh instead of glass. This door is also available in Satin Nickel.

Refresh Fireplace Screen Option #4: Refresh Single Panel Fireplace Screen in Rustic Black. We would recommend you have a remote controlled gas log for this option. Otherwise, you will need to pry the screen off with a screwdriver each time you want to turn on the logs.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
