Project #10484 - Glass Doors for Fireplace

Customer Comments: I hope this picture is useful. If not I can go over to the house and get one straight on. If you can expand the picture you will get a good view. The dimensions of the opening are 41.5" across and 27" high. I was looking for the Mission Window Doors in Rustic Black Black Mesh Curtain Clear glass with 1" Bevel and two knobs in Rustic Black Can you also quote the black reflective glass with 1" bevel. I'm not sure which I want yet, Thanks.

Our Comments: We have created examples of the Legend ZC with the Mission Window Pane in 3 types of glass. We also added a couple other options in other finishes as well just for comparison.

Fireplace Opening: 41 1/2" W x 27" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Measuring Instructions

Below are the measuring instructions along with a diagram

W1 - Width of opening:
W2 - Width between vents:
H1 - Overall Height*:
H2 - Height of Black Metal at Top:
H3 - Actual opening height measure to floor inside fireplace:
H4 - Height from hearth to floor inside fireplace:
N1 (note): Some of the mortar will need to be chipped away for a snug fit.
N2 (note): We will make the door overlap the black metal 1/4" so that it fits between the narrowest stones. The arrow points to what appears to be the narrowest stone. Please confirm that 1/4" overlap will clear this or any other stone. Gaps will need to be filled with grout or mortar for a good finished look.

*H2+H3+H4 should add up to H1

Additional Notes: We will make the subframe clear the width dimension W2 and height dimensions H2 and H4. So the actual opening specified for the door will be W2 and H3. The overall height of the frame will be 3/16” less than H1. The lever on the right may rub up against the subframe since the subframe is 1” deep and that lever usually measures 1” back from the face.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
