Project #10487 - Glass Doors for Outdoor Fireplace

Customer Comments: Thank you for your help. This is an outdoor fireplace with a prefabricated box. The width ranges from 35 3/4 to 36. The height ranges from 19 1/2 to 19 3/4. Variation due to masonry veneer. Please advise on color finish, clear or tinted glass, and style. We like clean lines, more contemporary. Mesh screen already installed. Distance from brick veneer to fabricated box is 4 inches. Appreciate your help.

Our Comments: Due to the way the bricks are installed right up to the fireplace opening and the design of the fireplace itself, there are limitations as to the type of doors you can use. There are vents on the sides and across the bottom that cannot be blocked off. Those vents help keep the outer chamber of the fireplace cool so the framing members used to install the fireplace do not catch fire. Each of the examples below are made from materials designed for outdoor fireplaces.

Fireplace Opening: 35 3/4" W x 19 1/2" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Edge Fireplace Door Option #2: Edge Door. This door has an angle iron frame set on edge, so it appears to be almost all glass. Made from Solid Brass Painted Black, this door fits right into the brick opening and mounts directly to the bricks.
Stainless Steel
DF1G Stainless Steel Fireplace Door Option #3: DF1G Outside Fitting Stainless Steel Fireplace Door with Half Round Door Frames. This door overlaps the opening and has spacers between the frame and the bricks to allow for cooling airflow into the fireplace. This can also be made from solid brass painted black. The picture is actually polished chrome, but we don't have a photo in stainless steel, which would have a more satin finish.
Wrought Iron
Wrought Iron Fireplace Door Option #4A: Wrought Iron Fireplace Door in Natural Iron. This door is hand forged and specially treated with a galvanized like material for durability outdoors. Spacers are included as in Option #3.
Wrought Iron
Wrought Iron Fireplace Door in Rust Option #4B: Wrought Iron Fireplace Door in Rust. What could be more durable than a finish that is already rusted. The moving parts are specially treated for use outdoors. Spacers are included as in Option #3

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
