Project #10539 - Glass Doors for Fireplace
Customer Comments: Tile will be in a hering bone design. The hearth will be lowered to the floor, with a grey hard wood on the floor. I saw on YouTube where the firebricks were painted. Is there a special paint for that? The gas valve will be flush against the wall. I also saw on you tube where they used a sheet of metal painted black to cover the bricks. Sitting right behind the fire balls. Looking to purchase soon.
Our Comments: Here are several designs based on our discussion. To paint the inside firebrick and exposed black metal use Rutland Stove Paint, you can buy it on Amazon. The sheet metal you saw on YouTube was likely the fireback made by R.H. Peterson. It is available in black, satin stainless steel or polished stainless steel. We have shown this in some of the mockups. We also included a valve cover and gas key to match the doors.

Doors That Cover All Black Metal
The Legend ZC Deluxe doors are made from a 3/16" thick solid sheet of steel that is laser cut to fit over the entire black metal fireplace facing.

Overlap Fit Doors
The Carolina door is also made from 3/16" thick solid steel, but is designed to only overlap the black metal 1" on all 4 sides as opposed to covering the entire facing.

Inside Fit Doors
The Stiletto door is made from lighter weight aluminum and is designed to fit inside the black metal face. There will be about a 1/8" gap around the opening to allow proper airflow into the fireplace.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
