Project #10541 - Glass Doors for Fireplace

Customer Comments: Hello, I’m inquiring about getting a custom fireplace screen for my client. Attached is a picture of the fireplace they have. The opening is 30”h X 42”w inside dimensions. They would like a more traditional curtain style such as your #722 C92 standard bar & mesh. Finish still to be determined but as a note they have quite a bit of antique or vintage brass throughout their house. Thanks and look forward to hearing back from you.

Our Comments: With fireplaces such as this, we would normally use a CFR 3 sided frame screen with Andirons for a more traditional look. The C92 single header can work as well, but is more of a mid-century modern look. We have created several mockups so you and your client can decide what you like best. We recommend a hand polished finish on all of these items, which is a bit more dull brass rather than a highly polished finish. It is very much like the finish that is on the fender.

There are many casting trims and finishes to choose from, but we have selected the ones we thing go best with this particular fireplace. You can see more here: Solid Brass Trims & Finishes

Fireplace Opening: 42" W x 30" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

CFR - 3-Sided Frame Screens

These are all hand crafted from solid brass. The Rope casting trim best compliments the detail of the antique fender, while the Marseilles andirons are just the right proportion and style to finish off the look.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
