Project #10544 - Doors for Prefab Fireplace with Granite Facing

Customer Comments: Hello, looking at your Phoenix glass door line. Have a ZC with a granite outer surface. It measures 41 5/8” w x 28 3/8 h. Looking at the Classic Bronze or the Solar Bronze finish with the standard rectangle door and square handles with either Bronze or Gray glass.

Additional Customer Comments (after 1st communication): Thank you for the very quick and comprehensive response to our inquiry. We have looked at many doors at fireplace shops in Northern California and we decided to go with glass doors for the aesthetics and to camouflage the fire box. We understand that the doors would need to be opened when there is a fire. We don’t plan on using the fireplace very often.

Our Comments: Most doors for prefabricated fireplaces are made to fit inside mounted to the black metal opening or to overlap the black metal. Because the granite was installed smaller than the actual metal fireplace opening, we cannot use a typical prefab fireplace doors and we must overlap the granite. If you choose any of the Design Specialties doors as an overlap fit, they must have mesh panels instead of glass. The ultra high-end doors from Stone Manufacturing can overlap the granite and will have 1/4" spacers behind the frame to allow cooling ariflow into the fireplace. You cannot burn the fire with the glass doors closed in this case. We have created examples of both types of doors in a variety of finishes and price ranges.

Fireplace Opening: 41 5/8" W x 28 3/8" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
