Project #10569 - Glass Doors for Large Rock Fireplace
Customer Comments: The opening measures approximately 63 x 42; the entire wall is 12'. We added the piece down the middle because the fireplace was too big and not usable before. The damper is almost as big as the opening. We are looking for a curtain and doors. At a minimum we need a curtain. Would like to see Stiletto and Legend options.
Our Comments: For large fireplaces like this we must add fixed end panels to the door in order to reduce the size of the glass panels to a size that is structurally sound. Here are the requested mockups with a couple variations and additions.
Fireplace Opening: 63" W x 42" H
Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

The aluminum doors are a made from extrusions, so the width of the frame at the bottom cannot be modified and must sit on top of the rough stone heart. So mortar will be required on all 4 sides.
Steel doors can be made with a wider frame on the bottom, which allows the door to be installed sitting on the bricks behind the stone hearth giving it a more finished look.
Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
