Our Comments: We have created examples of doors in various materials including extruded aluminum, plated steel and nickel plated solid brass. The quality and caliber of a satin nickel finish varies greatly between these different materials respectively. Before we design a door we will need pictures and measurements of the fireplace with the existing doors taken off.
We can make the registers in satin nickel or stainless steel. We can also make a matching trim piece for the mantel. Look for variations of these additional details in the mockups.

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Aluminum Doors
Aluminum doors are the least expensive and are generally great in powder coated finishes. Satin nickel is really just brushed aluminum, so although it is a very durable finish, it will not look like your high quality satin nickel hardware.

Steel Doors
Solid steel is extremely heavy duty and looks significant. Powder coat finishes are the most durable on steel. As with any steel product, plated finishes such as brushed nickel are not as durable compared to aluminum or solid brass.

If you want real stainless steel, we can make that too. It is pricey, but it's the real thing and extremely durable.

Solid Brass
When it comes to brushed nickel or satin chrome finishes, the ultimate finest quality begins with pure solid brass that is then electroplated. This fusing of materials creates a finish that is more durable than the original materials separately.

Hi, I was hoping you could help us with some design services to replace our current fireplace doors.
House Design overview: The entire house, built in 1982-1983 has just been renovated to an open floor plan (well, it's still in progress, but you get the point). The paint colors are all very cool throughout the house, and in the area of the fireplace the walls are light grey. All trim and windows are white, and all metal hardware (cabinet handles and such) are stainless steel or brushed nickel (the whiter shades of nickel, with no yellow/gold tones). The style of the house would be considered "transitional."
We don't know much about fireplace doors, but we would like something of good quality. It seems to us that something in a stainless/nickel shade would work well, but we'd even be open to black for this purpose (there is black trim on the exterior of the house, but nowhere else on the interior). It sounds like you have aluminum, steel, and forged iron. We're open to suggestions, but the forged iron looks particularly nice.

Oh, and if you offer replacement grilles for the two fireplace blowers on either side of our fireplace, we would love to replace those with something that matches the doors. I added those measurements as well.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
