Project #10579 - Glass Doors for Fireplace
Customer Comments: Looking for a custom made fireplace doors that are satin nickel color with grey glass. Smallest Dimensions of opening W=23-3\8” x H=31-1/8”. These dimensions are the minimum opening dimensions, the height and width are greater in other areas (up to 5/8” larger). I would like a mock up and is there a flange that will be able to wrap around the front of the door frame that can cover up the gaps around the edges where the opening is larger?
Our Comments: We typically recommend an inside fit door for fireplaces like yours with a surface that is irregular. We would make the door slightly smaller than the opening and you would fill the gap between the stone and the frame with mortar or grout. We have included examples of doors best suited for this application as well as some others that will overlap the stones. A couple of these examples use very wide frames to make the fireplace look more wider and more proportional. Keep in mind that the outer frame on these examples will be pushed away from the opening as much as the furthest protruding stone and there will be gaps behind the frame.

Inside Fit Doors
These doors are specifically made with narrow frames to fit inside the opening so as to have a minimal impact on the opening size.

Overlap Fitting Doors
We have designed these doors with extra wide frames to make the opening size appear more proportional and overlap the stones on the sides more than the top.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
