Project #10606 - Glass Doors for Fireplace
Customer Comments: I'm looking to possibly get doors for our 1950s prefab "Heatilator 500 Series" fireplace. I' attaching the pictures your website requests. We had a chimney sweep come out to clean out our fireplace after we bought our house and he said, "you really can't put doors on a fireplace like that." I wanted to email you guys and get a second opinion. The width of the opening is 32" wide; and then 24.75" high on the left side and 25" high on the right. Looking at the doors you have on your website, I like the basic design of the Savannah stock doors. Not sure if it's any help, but also including a few papers that the previous owners had kept through all the years from its installation in '61. Thanks for any advice and help.
Our Comments: Your chimney sweep was on the right track. Most fireplace doors cannot be installed on your type of heatilator fireplace. The doors below can, but you cannot burn them with the doors closed.
Fireplace Opening: 32W x 24 3/4" H
Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
