Project #10627 - Glass Doors for Fireplace

Customer Comments: Looking to keep the design simple, to not compete with the tapered molding. Also, something thin since there is only 7" of brick before the molding starts. Aspect, Bungalow (but feel that the 3.5" frame is too wide), Brookfield, Stiletto

Notes:
The fireplace has a new lock-top damper installed. Photo 6 shows the handle that operates a wire to open/close the top damper.
Would like a mesh curtain that opens/closes behind the doors.
Like bi-fold doors
Thinking either black or brushed silver finish

Questions:
We've read that 3/8 glass is better than 1/4. Could you tell us your opinion on this?
What are the glass color options?

Our Comments: We have created examples of doors that will will work with your fireplace based on your questions and comments. We will respond to your questions when we talk over the phone.

Fireplace Opening: 35 7/16" W x 27 7/8" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Required Modification

When we originally created the mockups on this page, we failed to notice exposed edge of the inner hearth is raised higher than the hearth outside the fireplace. All of the doors on this page would need to be modified to accommodate this as you see in the example below.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
