Project #10672 - Glass Doors for Fireplace
Customer Comments: I am interested in a Custom Single Panel Fireplace Screen - Carolina Sunrise Window Pane DS-CAROLINA-SINGLE-PANEL-SWP. My fireplace is 65 inches wide. I would like to have something that doesn't stick out as the one I have now does? What would be the estimated cost? Do you have alternative suggestions.
Our Comments: Large fireplaces like yours are best fitted with a screen that is attached or does not have to be moved out of the way. Single panel screens this large are very bulky and cumbersome. So we suggest either a free standing screen door, an attached screen door or glass doors. We have provided mockups of all of these options below. Once we get the height of your opening we will be able to provide pricing.
Fireplace Opening: 65" W x " Unknown H
Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Free Standing Screens

Mesh Doors
These are shown as free standing screens with legs, but they can also be made attached. The attached versions are much sturdier. Whether they are attached or not, these types of screens are much more convenient for large fireplace because you do not have to lift them out of the way.

Glass Doors
Glass doors provide the ultimate functionality for a large fireplace allowing you to close the doors when your fire dies out to keep the heat in your house. They can have mesh curtains or mesh doors behind the glass and can be burned with the doors opened or closed.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
