Project #10786 - Glass Doors for Fireplace

Customer Comments: Hello I saw your website and I’m in need of a fireplace screen I like the ones you have with glass doors and brush nickel or aluminum as I live on the ocean. I look forward to hearing from you.

Our Comments: The Aluminum doors will not work with your type of fireplace. We have created mockups of doors that will work in either stainless steel or nickel plated solid brass with a brushed finish. Each of these mockups is showing gray glass, which will help hide the entire fireplace when the doors are closed. The satin nickel finish on the aluminum doors is really just brushed aluminum, so it will not match the quality or appearance of the various stainless steel components you have in your home. But it is far less expensive that stainless steel or solid brass. We eliminated any of the solid steel nickel plated doors because they will not hold up well in salt air.

We also included a custom designed screen that goes well with your decor. There are many other designs like this that you may wish to consider.

Fireplace Opening: Unknown

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

About Finishes!

Before
Before:

Low End Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable. These doors cannot be made to cover all of the black metal and can only overlap the opening slightly as shown.

Stainless Steel

Stainless Steel doors are more substantial and durable than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut. The finish is true stainless steel that will compliment your other furnishings.

High End Hand Crafted Solid Brass

These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans from Solid Brass or Steel, depending on the finish that is desired. Very high end, and very refined. Items made from solid brass come in a wide variety of hand crafted patinas and other finishes. Satin Nickel finishes done on solid brass are the finest quality and will not rust like plated steel.

Free Standing Screens

Single Panel Screen
Solid Brass Fireplace Screen Option #7: 1P10M Nickel Plated Solid Brass Fireplace Screen with Cross Bars in Satin Nickel. This screen was designed specifically to work with your decor. The black painted stainless steel mesh panels around the perimeter are double thickness to provide less transparency while the inner mesh panel is a single layer that is easier to see through. This helps hide the black metal fireplace.
Single Panel Screen
Solid Brass Fireplace Screen Option #8: 1P10M Nickel Plated Solid Brass Fireplace Screen with Cross Bars in Satin Nickel. This is the same concept as the above screen, but the mesh panels around the perimeter are stainless steel that is not painted, which really blocks the view of the black metal while the inner mesh panel is black painted stainless steel so can easily see the logs and fire. This helps hide the black metal fireplace.
Single Panel Screen
Carolina Single Panel Screen Option #9: Carolina Stainless Steel Single Panel Fireplace Screen with Stainless Steel Mesh combination and Classic Feet. This is the same concept as Option #8 but made by Design Specialties with a slightly wider 1 1/4" outer frame and more traditional style legs.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
