Project #10823 - Glass Doors for Fireplace
Customer Comments: Hello Hansen Wholesale! I was interested in your Fireplace Door Design service as I am looking for a cabinet style glass fireplace to fit our arched fireplace with red brick. I like the cabinet full foor type style but of course would love your recommendation. I have included the measurements of the fireplace below and included multiple photos.
Length of opening of fireplace: 35 inches long
Height of middle point of the fireplace: 24 inches tall
Height of side points of the fireplace: 21.1 inches tall
Depth of fireplace from opening to back: 21 inches deep
Thank you very much and Happy New Year!
Our Comments: There are 2 ways you can treat an arched opening with a ledge like yours: 1- We can fit the door inside using a 1 1/2" wide frame and you can fill the gaps with morter. 2-2 We can overlap the ledge with a 2" wide frame and add returns on the sides of the door that go back to the brick. We have created mockups of both applications.
Regarding the twin doors vs bifold doors: Twin doors look cleaner but are less functional. When you burn the fire with the doors open they take up much more room and don't look as good. Bifold doors are much more functional as they fold back on themselves flat against the fireplace so they are fully out of the way. If you keep things off the hearth as you have now, it really won't matter which one you choose, but the majority of people choose bifold doors over twin.
Fireplace Opening: 35" W x 21" to 24" H
Medium Range Steel Doors
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.
