Project #10831 - Glass Doors for Arched Brick Fireplace
Customer Comments: We would like to do your mock up design service. Our fireplace opening is basically 36"wide and 24.5" tall. It narrows by roughly 1/4" at the top compared to the bottom. We can't use off the shelf doors because of how the decorative brick border sticks out at the sides but not straight across the top (makes an arch instead).
We like clean modern lines. We would probably want a black finish but we are open to seeing other options if you think something would look better. Our primary interest is not in making the fireplace more decorative, but rather to make it more functional by being able to close the doors if we are leaving the house or going to bed and the embers are still burning.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Our Comments: Prefabricated firelaces like yours have limited options. We can make a door that fits completely inside the opening, one that overlaps the top black metal, or one that is arch shaped to overlap the bricks. The arch shaped door cannot be burned with the doors closed during the main part of the fire, but can be closed to let the fire die out.
Fireplace Opening: 36" W x 24 1/2" H
Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Low End Aluminum Doors
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
Medium Range Steel Doors
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.
High End Hand Crafted Wrought Iron/Steel Doors
Hand crafted doors take on a more rugged natural look for those who appreciate craftsmanship tasteful details.

Wide Castings
Solid Brass Extrusions
These solid brass extrusions from Stone Manufacturing are used as trims for custom screens and doors and any number of unique applications you can dream up.

Solid Brass Split Tubes
These solid brass split tubes can be used as a trim by themselves or added to a screen or glass door to transform an ordinary fireplace into a modern masterpiece.

Questions

In order to determine which doors will work, we need the answers to the questions below in reference to the diagram.
A: How far back is the mesh from the bottom of the metal
B: Can the channel that is in front of the mesh be removed and if so, is the mesh mounted to it?
C: What is the depth of the brick arch at this point?

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
