Project #10838 - Glass Doors for Fireplace
Customer Comments: Hello! We are looking for glass doors to retain the heat. The fireplace is from 1860 so something age appropriate would be great. The pictures are attached. The fireplace is about 64 inches by 55 inches. Can you share what you can do for us? Thank you
Our Comments: Fireplaces as large as this require doors with "Fixed End Panels", which means the 2 pieces of glass on the ends are fixed and do not open. This reduces the overall size of each glass panel to prevent breakage from heat. Only a few doors can be made this large. We have created 3 examples representing the 4 levels of quality and price. We also included a heavy custom wrought iron grate and andirons that are period pieces from the era.
Fireplace Opening: 64" W x 55" H
Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Hand Crafted Period Style Wrought Iron Doors
Price Range: $10,000 to $11,000.00
These doors are hand forged to match the material and craftsmanship from the 1800s. They feature the rugged detail and imperfections you would only see in a piece made by a blacksmith.

Medium Range Steel Doors
Price Range: $4800.00 to $5200.00
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged being made from laser cut steel. The Craftsman style door features some hand hammered edging to give it a more hand made look.

Low End Aluminum Doors
Price Range: $2300.00 to $2500.00
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Wide Castings
Solid Brass Extrusions
These solid brass extrusions from Stone Manufacturing are used as trims for custom screens and doors and any number of unique applications you can dream up.

Solid Brass Split Tubes
These solid brass split tubes can be used as a trim by themselves or added to a screen or glass door to transform an ordinary fireplace into a modern masterpiece.

Mesh & Insulation Options
The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
