Project #10872 - Screen Options for 93" Wide Arched Fireplace

Customer Comments: I think we have a unique need. This fireplace Opening is 96”, the max arch height is 33, and the minimum in the sides is 29”. I think we would need a multi-part screen? It Doesn’t have to fit the entire width... ideas?

Our Comments: We can make a screen door or glass door that is the full size of the fireplace, or we can use some type of free standing screen that is smaller and fits inside. The mockups below depict some of these options.

Fireplace Opening: 93" W x 33" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Glass Doors & Mesh Doors

The option below can be made with glass doors or screen doors, or both. It would be made in 3 sections that are pieced together before installation. The end panels can be operable or fixed. In this case, swe show them operable. The details of the door can be modified in many ways, we chose the Craftsman style door for this application.

Folding Screens

3-Fold Screen Door
3 Fold Screen with Doors Option #2: TFD33 3 Fold Screen with Doors in Antique Pewter with Rope Casting Trim. We chose this screen to show the function, not the style. It may look better in plain wrought iron like the examples below, we just don't have a picture of it that way. We can make it so that the side wings are bolted down to the fireplace for stability if needed.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
