Our Comments: There are several ways to treat a prefabricated fireplace like this. We can make doors that fit inside the opening and are strictly functional or we can go as far as covering the entire black metal fireplace with doors that flatter the room. Here are some examples.

Low End Aluminum Doors
Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.
Medium Range Steel Doors
Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.
Option #3: Legend ZC Deluxe Fireplace Glass Door in Forged Iron. The door frame is designed to cover the entire fireplace.
High End Hand Crafted Wrought Iron/Steel Doors
Hand crafted doors take on a more rugged natural look for those who appreciate craftsmanship tasteful details.
Option #4: Craftsman ZC Fireplace Door in Forged Iron. These doors just overlap the opening.
Ultimate Hand Crafted Screens & Doors
These screens and doors are hand crafted by artisans at Stone Manufacturing. The wrought Iron screen and doors are hand forged and the solid brass doors are silver soldered and brazed by skilled craftsman. These are the highest quality designer styles available. There are few limitations in custom design by this manufacturer.
Option #5: WI-DF1G Wrought Iron Fireplace Door with Surround in Burnt Sienna. This hand forged door is made to cover the entire fireplace. The Burnt Sienna finish goes well with the stone and adds to the unique rustic look of the door. The larger sample is an actual photo of the frame in a natural iron finish.
Option #6: WI-DF1G Solid Brass Pseudo Arch Fireplace Door with Hand Hammered Details and Rivets Finished in an Antique Copper. Made to cover the entire fireplace. The mockup does not do this justice as we could not replicate the hammered as shown in the larger example.
Option #7: WI-1P10M Wrought Iron Bowed Fireplace Screen. This is an excellent alternative to glass doors as it fits the shape of the hearth and really flatters the fireplace while helping to hide the metal box.

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.
Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
