Project #10899 - Glass Doors for Fireplace

Customer Comments: I would like a fairly thin dark frame with glass doors. I would like it as "invisible" as possible

Our Comments: We have several fireplace door styles that have very narrow frames. Some actually have no frame on the sides and just mount at the top and bottom for a completely minimal look. See the examples below.

Fireplace Opening: 42" W x 26 1/2" H

Note: These mock-ups are not to scale and are meant to help you choose the model of your screen or door, not the finish. Although we may create a general representation of black, iron, bronze, gold and silver tones, you must choose your finish from our samples using the links below. Ask your project manager which samples apply to the items in your project.

Important Note:
About Finishes!

Low End Aluminum Doors

Aluminum is an excellent material for fireplace doors because it does not rust and can handle high temperatures when treated with powder coated finishes. It is also the most affordable.

Stiletto Fireplace Door Option #1: Stiletto Cutback Fireplace Glass Door in Rustic Black. This frame only overlaps the opening 1/4", so it requires a very square opening. It is the least expensive option because of the cheaper material. It is made by piecing together aluminum extrusions that are mitered in the corners.

Medium Range Steel Doors

Steel doors are more substantial than the less expensive aluminum doors. They are heavy duty and rugged and are more customizable because the frames are laser cut.

Legend All Glass
Legend All Glass Fireplace Door Option #2: Legend All Glass Fireplace Glass Door in Rustic Black. This door has a 1" to 1 1/2" wide frame on the outside, but no frame around the glass.

High End Hand Crafted Solid Brass

These doors are hand crafted by skilled artisans from Solid Brass or Steel, depending on the finish that is desired. Very high end, and very refined. Items made from solid brass come in a wide variety of hand crafted patinas and other finishes. Satin Nickel finishes done on solid brass are the finest quality and will not rust like plated steel.

Minimal-1 Fireplace Door Option #3: Minimal-1 Fireplace Glass Door in Flat Black. This is the ultimate minimalist door where there is no frame on the sides. Just an angle iron on top and bottom that holds the door hardware. Notice how there is not even any hardware at the bottom of the glass.
Hybrid 2 Fireplace Door Option #4: HYBRID-2 Bifold Fireplace Glass Door in Pewter. This door is similar in design to the Minimal door as it has no frame on the sides. The difference is the doors are bifolding and have channels across the top and bottom. Very minimal style.
Frameless Door
FLD-1 Frameless Fireplace Door Option #5: FLD-1 Frameless Fireplace Door in Oil Rubbed Steel. This door has no frame around the glass, just an outer frame.
Solid Brass
Edge Fireplace Door Option #6: Edge Firelpace Door in Flat Black. This door has an angle iron frame on all 4 sides where only the front edge of the frame is exposed at the opening and the back of the frame disappears inside.

Mesh & Insulation Options

The Mesh options are behind the glass so you can burn the fire with the doors open and still have spark protection. Great for real wood or gas logs since most gas long manufacturers insist that you have a screen in front of the logs when they are burning. Mesh panel doors are the most popular and are best for when there are toddlers present because they will not open backwards whereas the mesh screens are easily pushed in. Insulation goes between the back of the frame and the fireplace facing, providing a better seal.

Black Mesh Curtains - These slide back and forth on a rod behind the glass
Gate Mesh Doors - These are separate doors behind the glass that have a flat wire mesh and a black frame.
Insulation: Provides a better seal between the fireplace face and the door frame.
